Amanda Rome West

2017

At the end of fall semester (2017), my friend Leo showed me a snapchat screenshot of Amanda Rome West, USC's local "celebrity" meme figure and yoga instructor. Inspired by the bright magenta colors of her snap, I decided to paint it. Amanda's notoriety from a handful of memes now includes an 11-hour "work of art" in addition to 20-minute photoshop jobs. I started the bid for $250 on the USC Memes page and despite a handful of offers from bemused frat boys, it was Amanda's own mom who topped the auction at $300. Proceeds from the sale went to Toys for Tots, an organization that donates gifts to underprivileged children for the holidays.
